Arising from pseudobulbs this is a ground growing orchid, which produces racemes of small, cattleya-like, magenta blooms in mid to late spring. Its tall green, sword shaped leaves are longitudinally pleated. Deciduous.
Prefers partial sun to light shade and moist to damp soil. May naturalize over time. Appreciates winter mulch in colder areas.
