Spikes of blue 1 1/2" flowers typically appear later than L. cardinalis. Long blooming. Deer resistant. Attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Best bloom is achieved in full sun with moist conditions. Readily self-sows. Native.

Great native plant for moist and even boggy locations. Prefers full sun to part shade and humus-rich, moist to wet soils, but will happily grow in average soils. Tolerant of clay soil. Appreciates some shade in hotter areas.
