Unusual short, broad flower heads of tubular blooms are yellow shading upwards to orange and red. The flower spikes emerge in late summer and bloom well into fall. It has the long, creased, strappy foliage typical of red-hot poker. Evergreen.
Prefers full sun and consistently moist, well-drained soil. Tolerates light shade, but flowering is reduced. Good drainage is essential in winter.
