Shiny, dark green leaves have a spade-like shape. Lavender flowers bloom on tall stalks above the foliage in summer.
Hostas will grow in ordinary garden soil and withstand drought, but they are most beautiful when provided with ample moisture and organic matter. Can tolerate clay soil.
