Nearly charcoal-black, shiny leaves with maroon undersides maintain their dark color most of the year. Creamy blooms appear June to July above the compact mounds of round-lobed leaves. A slow but strong grower. Plant Patented.
Prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soils.

Although it is a slower grower, it is reputed to be stronger growing than H. 'Obsidian'.
