Plants produce rounded, dark purple bloom clusters in late summer. The twisted and curled, dusty blue-green leaves add interest when not in bloom. Well-adapted to sandy soils. Foliage has the distinct oniony smell when bruised.
Prefers sun to light shade and well-drained soil.
