Tidy plants have deeply cupped, heavily corrugated, dark green leaves that start out bluish-green and deepen in color as it matures. Leaf tips and edges are lighter in color. Lavender flower spikes show in midsummer.
Prefers bright shade and humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil, but will tolerate average to dry soil and full shade.
