The variety preferred by florists. Compact cultivar with multiple spikes of dark purple flowers. This is the original, vegetatively propagated version. Drought tolerant and attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Deer resistant. Long blooming and will rebloom if cut back.
Prefers full sun and moist, well-drained soils. Tolerant of drought, summer heat and humidity. Avoid wet soils in winter.
