Intense purple leaves are darker than 'Atropurpurea' and make an excellent companion to gold foliaged Hostas. Fragrant, ivory-white bottlebrush flowers are produced in fall. Deciduous. Deer resistant. All plant parts are poisonous!
Prefers partial (afternoon) shade to full shade and moist, organic-rich, well-drained soil. Can tolerate occasional wet soil. Do not allow plants to completely dry out as foliage will scorch.
