Mertensia virginica

Virginia Bluebells

Native wildflower. Nodding clusters of 1" fragrant trumpet-shaped flowers that are pink in bud but open to blue. Foliage is dormant in summer. Deer resistant. Self sows where happy. Occasionally a plant will have white rather than blue blooms, an attractive surprise.

Can be grown under black walnut trees.
