Clusters of showy, bright yellow blooms appear all summer. Dark green, leathery foliage forms layered, broad, low mounds. Introduced by Mike Dirr (of woody plants fame), in honor of his daughter, Susy, who died of cystic fibrosis in 2008. Patented.
Prefers full sun and average to moist, well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established.

30 percent of plant royalties go to the Sweet Melissa Fund, a nonprofit Professor Dirr and his wife, Bonnie, helped set up in North Carolina to pay expenses for lung-transplant patients and their families.
Attractive to butterflies. Long blooming plants that make nice cut flowers. Stems may have stickers. Foliage is strongly scented.
